Alana Black is a Research Associate at GSSR.

Alana attended graduate school at The George Washington University, where she earned her MPH in Public Health Communication and Marketing. Her capstone project focused on how large U.S. newspapers message and frame racial and ethnic health inequities.

She has served as the communications intern at Human Impact Partners, a research and advocacy organization that brings public health science to campaigns and movements for a just society. While there, she conducted literature reviews on topics such as taxes and the opioid epidemic and helped develop the organization’s social media strategy. Alana has also worked in advocacy and communications for the Alliance for Excellent Education, a Washington, DC–based policy and research organization with the mission of ensuring that all U.S. children graduate from high school prepared for success in college, work, and life.

In her spare time, Alana enjoys writing fiction, running, and consuming delicious things (be they food, art, or experiences).
